MY ROOTS
"Jesus Roots" are five habits that keep us connected to Jesus, God's Word, and Jesus’ will for our lives:
These five roots are only powerful when they go from theory to practice. Create your own "myRoots" plan below.
- Gather - Attend worship weekly.
- Group - Join a Life Group or Growth Group.
- Grow - Pray and have devotions at home.
- Give - Be generous for God's glory and the good of others by joining a Service Team and sharing your financial blessings.
- Go - Invest in and invite those you know who don't go to church.

- Write down your specific "next steps" for each of the five roots.
- Be specific.
- Put a time frame on your steps.
- Share your plan with someone you trust!
GATHER...in worship regularly
"We should not stop gathering together with other believers.... Instead, we must continue to encourage each other even more as we see the day of the Lord coming." - Hebrews 10:25
Worship Attendance:
- Specify how often you will attend worship services per month.
- List blessings of gathering together.
GROUP...to do life together
“Love… honor… accept… instruct… bear with… forgive… speak to… teach and admonish… encourage… confess your sins to… have fellowship with… one another.” - 1 John 13:34; Romans 12:10; Romans 15:7,14; Ephesians 4:2; Colossians 3:13; Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16; 1 Thessalonians 5:11; James 5:16; 1 John 1:7
GROW...in the home
"Blessed is the person who...delights in the teachings of the Lord and reflects on his teachings day and night." - Psalm 1:1-2
Home Devotions:
- Specify whether personal, couple, or family devotions.
- Specify whether morning, afternoon, or evening.
- Specify material(s) you plan to use.
- Commit to talking about faith spontaneously, and commit to praying together.
GIVE...generously to God & others
"Therefore, I urge you brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God - this is your true and proper worship." - Romans 12:1
Discover, Identify, Commit:
- Discover and identify your passions and interests.
- Specify how you will serve your church and community.
- Commit to supporting your church by giving a percent of your income (____________% of income = $____________).
- Commit to helping those in need by giving $____________.
GO...invest in & invite the unchurched
Jesus said, "Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing...and teaching..." - Matthew 20:18-19
Identify & Invite:
- Identify those you know who don't go.
- Invite them to....worship, Starting Point, church events, Life Group, Growth Groups, coffee, etc.
